12/02 build date w/NAV - do I have any options for XM/Sirius?

My first post. Just picked up an '03 CPO X5 on Friday.

My searches here are leaving me more confused than when I started.

I have an '03 with a 12/02 build date.

It has NAV with a changer.

I have XM in my other cars right now but I'm OK with Sirius if need be (only use it for CNBC anyway).

Do I have any options for hooking up a satellite radio and controlling it through the head unit?

TIA,
Mike O.

Mike,

Your best option is to replace your radio module (the unit located in the spare tire well) with one from a 2004 or newer. That will give you AUX inout and Sirius capability on your OEM head unit with full steering wheel control.

Or XM capability with an XM Direct unit.

Do you have a link on the XM Direct unit?

if u go the Sirius route, ask a lot of questions b4
purchasing. ask me how i know? from what i've
been told, even though u might buy a radio module
from an '04 or even an '05; it doesn't mean that it
will have Sirius capabilities. read this.
