Ok I made some progress. I took some video and pictures, but in the end now that it is working most are irrelevant. I still have some issues, not sure yet of they will be resolved.
First problem I had was either I got this screen, or it tried to go to the correct resolution and then would immediately go to a red screen. ![]() I tried the switch settings printed on the box. none worked correctly. Also my Idrive knob failed to work no matter what jumper settings I used. Finally a after I turned on switch 4 the screen resolution worked correctly. The printed switch settings clearly show switch 4 off. here are the switch settings that worked for me. ![]() ![]() My Idrive controller still did not function. I found this little contact on the end of a connector on my harness. ![]() after removing it the idrive controller works as it should. this was never mentioned in their instructions. I now have working Carplay wired and wirelessly. Audio through Aux works fine. My current issues. the LVDS cable is very touchy. with the MMI box setting on the floor, it works fine, but if you move the box very much at all the screen goes red. the connection on the cable is tight, just can't be moved or wiggled. I am afraid even if I am able to get it mounted a slight bump on the road could cause the screen to stop working requiring me to take the cover off and wiggle the cable. the other issue that I might be able to fix, is I currently do not have enough cable length in the harness to reach from the Idrive controller to mount the MMI box under the glove box. I have to take the center console back out and make sure the harness is not caught. hopefully I will gain the extra 4-6" required to comfortably reach a mounting location. Also the mic is not currently working, but I am sure it is due to not connecting the aftermarket mic. I will verify that later, but I don't think it is a problem. |
