Talking Sirius Retrofit?

I'm a rookie on this site, so please be patient with my ignorance. I did a search on this subject, but couldn't find any relevant posts. I have a 2001 X5 and I'd like to add Sirius to it. It has Nav so I'm assuming it should be an easier retrofit. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Welcome..
I know only enough to be dangerous but I thought I would get the ball rolling and those in the know will chime in. I believe you will have to replace your radio module that is in the trunk with a newer satellite ready module (I think produced after 10/2003 but not sure). Otherwise there are some other alternatives but I don't think they allow you to view the title and artist in your dash.

Edit: I just looked on the x5world front page under stereo I think articles 27-35 deal with this subject.

Detailed step by step instructions are here http://www.bimmernav.com/BMW_Sirius_..._Retrofit.html

Step 1) Replace your battery with a New Gen version from 2003 and up. If you have nav, the radio is under the spare tire. If you do not Radio can be swapped out. The cool thing is you get Aux with the new trunk radio and IF you get a REALLY new dash CD radio (no nav) you might get a nice MP3 player suprise, and support for Aux

Step 2) Wire up Sirius like you would a 2004 X5. It is pretty straight forward and well documented here
