Speaker Comparisons

ok..i already have the mbquartz dke 116, was going to have them installed today but i came across another brand rockford fosgate speakers and liked them immediately due to the cosmetic appearance, however i can't understand speaker specs so which ones would be better?

MBQuartz:

Power: 50-120W
Sensitivity: 90dB
Frequency Response: 40-32.000Hz

Rockford Fosgate Power:

Power: 75-150W
Sensitivity: 88dB
Frequency Response: 60Hz-22kHz

obviously the wattage is better for the fosgate but i don't know how to compare the other specs

Are you going to use the stock amp? That matters. You wouldn't want to run 20-30 watts into a speaker that is made to come alive at 75 watts or more. Also, why is appearance a factor if they will be behind the factory grills? Or are you going to have them showing?

Of the two specs you posted, the MB's play much lower and are slightly more efficient (louder per watt of input). Hope that helps.

Bad news... neither the specs you list, nor any specs that make sense to non-speaker-engineer types, will tell you ANYTHING about how those speakers will sound.

There is no way to tell other than to listening, preferably in a car.

Second (a distant second) is asking people whose opinions you trust.

I personally am not a fan of either of the speakers you list. There are far better sounding speakers out there.
