Front/Rear Speaker Sizes

is there a link/page which lists in detail the dimensions of our stock front and rear speakers?

in the computer specs listing (circuit city, bestbuy, al & ed's autosound, local shops) it shows 6.5" speakers for a 02 X5 however upon examining my stock speakers i measured it and came out to only 5.5"...now i already bought 6.5" speakers so what is the true size here? i have non-dsp model

the mbquartz speaker grills are almost 7"...shouldn't these speaker grills then be the same size as the oem grills?

You can't go by the grills. I looked into this also. I agree that 6.5 are correct but I have DSP and could be wrong since I have not removed mine yet. No real help here.Rob

You're easy to drive nuts.

There are many variations in speakers called "6.5". Your car is Euro, it's really in mm, and I think it's 165mm speakers. BUt the only way you're going to get any info you believe is if you take your door panel off... so go for it.

I put 6.5 Focal speakers in my door.
I had to modify it very little. Any professional stereo installer with half a brain will be able to do the same.
Putting a smaller speaker ( 5.25) is the easy way to do it.

All they will do is take out your old speaker and cut an adapter out of wood to fit the new one.
You will probably lose sound because the cone will be firing sound into your door panel.

I have to take off my door panel to fix a lock motor this weekend, when i do i'll take some pics and post them.
