On 4/2 , I bought a 2005 BMW X5, it has Sirius, single in-dash CD/mp3, BMW Assist, Bluetooth, & a DVD player with monitors in the headrests. I have a few questions, and have searched these forums but haven't really found the info I'm looking for.
1. I believe that the 2006 Business CD players have ID3 tags and folder navigation, does anyone know if I can have my dealer swap out my single CD/mp3 for the newer model without affecting any of the other features (i.e. phone, Sirius, etc)? I suspect that this is my only way of keeping the features I love and adding the ones I need. 2. I'm new to all of this, and I'm also wondering why my steering wheel doesn't have the ability to go through the modes on the radio (cycle through CD, AM/FM radio, Sirius, Changer, aux input, etc). That's another feature I would really like. 3. If I get the folder navigation, my next step would be to be able to navigate through the folders from the steering wheel. Can this be done? 4. Can I get a remote control for the radio? Sometimes my husband is driving and I really want to change the radio station from a remote. Am I being too picky? Thanks for any info you can provide me. |

Here is the list with of ID3 Audiotext supported in dash cd players and Cd changers
http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/243524 The changers work in all X5s and X3s but in order to have ID3 audiotext displayed the radio needs to be updated to a version built after 09/05 (possibly earlier in 05 production although not sure about full support). The radio is in the trunk for the nav cars, and called the BM53 The in dash CD built after the dates on this document can also be retroftted in the older cars. If you have the round pin radio built before 08/01 you need the adapter harness to update the radio. Updating the radio will also give you Sirius support http://www.bimmernav.com/BMW_Sirius_..._Retrofit.html Martin |
