HELP! Stero is not working.

Hi Guys

Firstly, I drive a 2003 E46 330Ci Convertible (Euro spec). It has 16:9 Sat Nav with TV tuner and cassette deck up front with 6 CD changer in back. It is a mk4 unit.

Now the problem is that the stereo system has suddenly stopped working!!! The display is working fine in that I can see the on board computer screen, TV tuner, settings menu and sat nav but there is no sound. I can't switch to radio or CD changer mode and when I press the left knob nothing happens! The orange 'on' light does not come on! The stero/radio part of the unit seems like it is not turning on!!!

Recent changes I have made are updating the software to v27 (one with perspective) and installed a tv in motion cable (from TvOnNav). This was done a few weeks ago and have worked fine up until now.

I am going to try removing the motion lead later (I am at work now) and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, anyone have any suggestions?!? Just hoping I don't need a new unit!!!

thanks in advance.

Kam

THat is indeed unusual behavior from a major appliance.

Hmmm... first I suggest less punctuation

The fact that the HU won't change sources rules out having the amp be the problem.

We had an odd problem in an E39 that ended up being a bad iPod interface. Does the video interface you used tie into the databus? If it went bad it might disable things.

I think you are on the right track - the interface being removed is the first thing I would test.

I just had a PM from someone else with the same problem. So, thought I'd post the answer in case anybody needs the answer!

Thankfully it wasn't anything major. Somebody else replied to me on another board and gave me the resolution.

You have 2 options:
1) Disconnect the battery and leave it for about 30 mins
2) Remove fuse 41 and leave for about 30 mins. The fuse box is in the glove box (I had no idea it was there before this!). There is a list of what each of the fuses is. If it isn't 41 then it may be 47.

Either way, you're just resetting the radio module and that seems to fix the problem.
