Ipod Icelink
1- With my car spec given above, is it possible to install iPod Icelink? 2- I want to leave the iPod in the back compartment, can I just plug the kit to “something” and not having to run cable through the interior? 3- Is the iPod self charge while playing and plugged in? I don’t want to make new connection to battery. In summary, I just want simple plug and play kit. I don’t want to mess up anything in the car since I don’t know much about it and I am not a DIY guy. Thanks in advance.

Get in touch with Tom G., he will answer any questions that you may have. From the looks of it you should be just fine.
1. Yes 2. The kit attaches to the factory CD changer harness, you should have it even though you do not have a changer. Can leave it in the back if you choose. 3. The iPod can be set to charge 3 ways; not at all, only when in use, or for 2 hours after it is switched off. It is an easy DIY, especially since you want to leave it in the back. Running the wiring to the center console is the hardest part, took me 45 minutes of an hour install.

What djbock said is all true. You might want to consider the DICE iPod integration kit instead:
http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...I=458/_cid=282 The Dension ICE Link has been discontinued and the DICE is the unit that replaces it. Slightly better feature set, faster operation, etc. I think it's the better way to go.

All U.S. X5's are pre-wired for CD changer.

2. You can leave the iPod in the cargo area, I would prefer keeping it up in the cabin area for additional control (iPod can be used for browsing or handed to a passenger). 3. The iPod will charge when plugged into the DICE kit. 4. You can be listening to music in less than 5 minutes. Route the cable to the front area and you're done! We have the kit you need in stock and ready to ship: DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=268 Feel free to contact me if you have any other specific questions, we're glad to assist.
