Sub-woofer recommendations? BSW or ...?

I have the BSW Stage 1 speaker upgrade, MB Quarts and now I want to install a sub woofer as it is the next logical step. I have the Non DSP Biz CD setup.

So I want decent bass, I don't need a window blowing system. Bass is what seems to be missing the most now that I've upgraded the speakers. I've considered the BSW Single 10" Compact Subwoofer System but want to make sure I'm getting the best bang for buck.

Anyone used that along with the BSW Stage 1? Or what other options. I'd like to use the factory sub woofer location if possible otherwise I don't want something that will take up loads of space in the rear cargo compartment. And I'd like to keep this upgrade at $1,000 or less.

I'm fairly handy with doing DIY projects (did the hitch, brake controller and BSW Stage 1 myself). I've done a lot of searching on this site but need to narrow this down now.

I am sure that BSW wishes they had in stock a stealthed 10" sub enclosure for the right rear corner where the DSP sub would go.

Since they don't, I am going to suggest finding someone that makes fiberglass molded enclosures in your area (a shop, I mean). We usually charge 400-500 for a single-driver fiberglass enclosure and we're in the big city (simply meaning that overheads are lower in Boise than here).

If you got that sub box made, a decent $100-180 10" is fine, and a $250-400 amp is fine, and you can get the whole thing installed for under a kilobuck.

Of course, if you bypassed the OEM amp and used the MBQUart passive crossovers, you would get lots better bass out of the doors than you do now... if you have those passive crossovers, then you might consider getting a 4-channel amp and running the fronts and the sub off of an aftermarket amp.

I travel to Portland quite a bit and may be there in August. I do have the MBQuart passive crossovers (I believe they were in the boxes from BSW). So which would you recommend as the better solution? Just the sub or going with the bypass solution? And how long would you need the X for to do the install? Thanks! (There are a couple of shops here I can check for the sub enclosure too...)

The fiberglass sub box is a two-day deal, but there's curing gaps in there, so there's plenty of time to do amp installs and such as we go.

I suggest the amp bypass and replacement because I feel the OEM amps are a bottleneck for you getting the full performance out of your speakers.

We actually have a prototype enclosure for that panel for an 8" driver. We expect to have preliminary photos within the week and availability within 6 weeks.
