Unhappy Sirius Retrofit Problem

I am currently in the middle of a Sirius retrofit. The problem that I am having is the radio is not picking up that I have Sirius hooked up. Using my navigation monitor, I go through all of the modes. When I have the Sirius hooked up there is a second 'TAPE' mode that appears, this has no noise to it. I think the radio is partially picking up the Sirius but I am not sure. I believe I do have all the correct parts. My X5 is a 2001 but it has a nav retrofit in it with a BM 53 radio dating July 2004. Is this a software problem in the BM 53 that needs to be updated? Or is this something else. I do have the OEM 6-Disc CD changer, that works great running through the Sirius receiver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Parts I have:

65 12 0 398 140 - Receiver

84 11 0 399 301 - Antenna

84 11 0 141 987 - CD Changer Cable

84 11 0 141 977 - Extension Cable
