Aftermarket HU Trim - Sneak Peek
Can't really decide on a trim for the HU. Matching black vinyl like the dash, wood/lower trim combo, etc. I'm feeling the matching black vinyl the most. It's all about the *texture* as well since AC vent above is smooth and the vent controls below are smooth too. Check out my Pshop in action

Lol. I'm on my blackberry. It looks good. Well I did a mod on my x5 with oem wood trim, took like 3 hour to cut. I can send you pic not 100 done but there. I used bmw lether to wrap around, found a head rest on ebay and choped it. Look s much better than vinyl. Good luck

Is that a Pioneer AVIC-Z1? I have one sitting in our office still in the box. Can't figure out how to get it into a Porsche 911 with all the supposed original fiber optic wiring in the car. How much you paying to have that installed?

Black but with seams to follow the trim as in the 3-series pic below will look good. There is someone on this board who makes these trims.

I've put alot of thought into this so here goes...
The seams does flow but I think it pulls off well in the 5 and 3 series because the there is more Height on the betwwen the HU and the upper AC vents. However, IMO I'm not a fan of the plain black trim - it's just doesn't work for me. So I came up with 3 design option. I think the wood/beige doesn't go well no does the all beige (material undetermined). The all black seems most natural to my eyes and matching the vinyl on the dash seems like the best material to use...there are other materials out there *alcanta, abs trim, etc. It's a marriage of color and *texture* to me as my OP stated since the vents and AC controls are smooth. Argh.........why can't this decision be so easy ;-) |

Hmmm.....Maybe I should just get all my trim redone in American Walnut. Should go well with the beige and be different

Nextel - So what's the secret project you're working on. Leather is nice and all but the dash is not leather ......
NextGen - Sorry but I suck at Photoshop. I had a friend do it for me since I was having a hard time visualizing how the trim would look against the HU ? Personally, I don't like any of them at all at this point but if I had to choose, I'm going with the black for now. I have seen plenty of well executed black trims - but now that I think about it, the interior of the car is black as well so everythings just flows right. Well.....everything is a compromise at times. |
