MP3 CD-Rs??

Does the stock stereo in the 2006 X5 play MP3 CD-Rs?

I'm debating whether or not I should get the navagation, because I will lose the CD player. But then it occured to me that if it doesn't play MP3 CDs, then it's not too useful anyway.

The in-dash CD supports Mp3 and Windows media files.

The NAV also supports MP3 cds when used with the latest CD Changer. It also displays ID3 tags as well.

So either way ... NAV or in-dash CD, you can have Mp3s !

From 9/2004, however from 9/2005 I believe they added folder/directory navigation.

I just got a 2005 X5 3.0i and it doesn't have folder navigation & ID3 tags and I am LOST without them, any idea if I can upgrade the CD without losing the other features in the stereo & radio (such as phone and Sirius)?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

How do you enable this in the std business cd/radio? It can play MP3s but does not display folder names nor id3 tags, only the folder number and file number. My car is manufactured 10/2005.

On the indash CD to navigate across folders you apparently push the "m" button and then the next track button.

So TR01-01 which means Folder 1, Track 1

would change to

TR02-01 which means Folder 2, Track 1

I checked my notes again on the AUDIOTEXT, and I believe I gave you bad info ... apparently no AUDIOTEXT with the in-dash CD ... sorry !! I updated the top of post, so as not to cause confusion when someone re-reads !

I didn't know Sirius is an option on the X5. According to the BMW website, it is only an option on some of the other models. Is it available on the X5? If so, how much does it cost?

Sirius can be installed on any post 09/02 X5 w/ Business CD or 10/02 with NAV. We offer retrofit kits for the earlier models as well.
