Another Ice>Link Question

I've had a search and can't really find the answer, Is it just me or does everbodys ID3 text change font size randomly when scrolling on the nav screen when using a Ice>Link.

I've found a couple of posts that say it's a known issue but is this a known issue for everyone or just a few ? Is there a fix for it ?

Short answer :

It's everybody with an ice->Link.

There is no fix as the ice->Link development has stoped.

The replacement for the ice->Link in the US, the DICE, is supposed to fix the problem.

The Intravee fixed the problem some time ago and allows the user to choose the small or large text.

This is a bug in the ice>Link, there is no further development on a fix since the item was discontinued back in May.

The DICE ipod kit fixed this problem right from the start.

Here's a couple of shots of the DICE ipod kit in action on a 5-series w/ NAV:

If you are looking to upgrade, just a replacement module is needed - you can use the existing wiring harness and docking cable:

Let me know if you have any further questions.

other than the fixed text display, why would one uprade to the dice system? What advantage does it have over the ice-link?

Quite a few:

- The DICE kit is much more stable than the ice>Link kit
- Fixed font sizing on NAV applications
- Chapter search for Audiobooks
- integrated AUX port on module for other devices
- Built in Equalizer/Gain control for AUX devices
- iPod Clickwheel remains unlocked for manual use and detailed browsing
- Support. The ice>Link is no longer available since it has been discontinued.

Overall, the DICE has taken over the ice>Link position and learned from its mistakes in the past. The ice>Link is a very good product when its working - the DICE is simply a more stable system for your iPod and BMW.

Regarding the "DICE iPod display", what an empty screen!
Just "AC/DC" or "Shake a"??
Hope the Intravee will do a better job and show more info or artwork on this big empty screen.
