Question Anyone seen my Radio Volume?

Hi everyone, I am new to this great site having only just got my June 2001 X5 this month. I have already found the site really helpfull.
I have a problem which I cannot find the answer to, in that my radio volume every now and again just cuts off for no reason. Sometimes its no problem and other times it keeps happening often. Also sometimes the screen flickers off and on. Can anyone please help?
My car is in the UK and has the sat nav/telephone/radio set and screen.
Cheers Woody

Sounds like you might have a loose connection on the back of your screen. Or the fuse for the power that feeds you screen might be loose.
Does it only happen when your driving or hit bumps?

Hi, the occasional flickering screen is seperate from the volume problem in that it does not affect the volume when it flickers. You may be right about a bad connection though. Has anybody looked inside these sets I wonder? Woody

I bet that it is your battery. A low voltage on the battery will start the car, but you will have issues on the i bus. It is well documented in the BMW technical docs that low voltage on the i bus does crazy stuff on components on the i bus.

If your 2001 has the original battery, I would consider replacing it before it leaves you stranded one day
