Cassette to CD Conversion?

So I've got the utterly worthless cassette player in my 2001 3.0, and given the limited number of inputs with the stock stereo (I want XM and would like an iPod input as well) it'd sure be nice if I could utilize this input somehow. I'm thinking a cheesy cassette adaptor wired to a single CD player somewhere within reach of the driver. With such a setup, I could ditch the CD changer, which I don't care for anyway, for an XM radio. Has anybody done such a conversion? If so, what did you use, where did you mount it, etc? Anyway to hard wire into the tape player input?

PS- I think a "Best of Bread" cassette has been floating around my garage for years as a joke. Don't make me have to use it!

PPS- Did anyone who bought an Ultimate Driving Machine in 2001 still have a tape collection?

Yup, Nav, non-DSP

The cool, motorized, flip-out Nav screen is pretty impressive until you see that it unveils a cassette player. BMW should have designed an 8-track player for the system as well.

Doesn't matter if you go the iPod route - CDs in the vehicle are now a thing of the past.
