I'm pretty sure that the good shops I know up there - in Boston, or Waterbury, or Milford, would charge more though.

Man, after reading this I just have to laugh. I would pay 3k in a heart-beat if I knew the installer knew everything there is to know about X5's. Never in my life have I fought and failed at resolving ground loops than I have with this truck.
If you're adding the AVIC then I assume you're going to be running 3 sets of RCA's to the amps in the trunk? The cables alone are going to be around 200-300$ and installing those is a pain in the royal butt. Just to hook that puppy up to the amps I would expect 1k alone. Not to mention the pain in the arse to hook up the steering wheel controls and the parking brake/bypass. You really need someone who knows exactly what wires to tap on that BMW or you're going to have problems. Good luck! |

Did you get the install done yet...lets see some pics. BTW I learned many years ago the same ting that everyone else has already told you, bringing parts to a mechanic or install shop is like bringing the bread, eggs and bacon to a restaurant and asking them to cook you breakfast. If your thinking of doing that in the future I would recommend asking the facility you want to have the work their policy of installing parts bought from another source. Good Luck.
