Hmmmm 128 bit rate in my terms is "lower than CD quality" but I think it is supposedly "CD Quality".
I disagree.

No, you can not change the iTunes bit rate. The lower rate is part of Apple's content marketing strategy that still leads people to purchase CDs if the really like an iTunes track. (On the plus side, Apple does claim that their 128-bit compression rate is much better quality than a comperable 128-bit MP3 rip.)
