Speaker and subwoofer upgrade questions

Im looking to upgrade my stereo sytem in the X5. I dont want anything crazy. But the X5 stock system is pathetic. I saw one of the advertisers here and was wondering if anyone has used any of there stuff here. Its Bavarian soundwerks or BSW. Im thinking of going with their subwoofer upgrade and stage 1 speaker upgrade. Does anyone currently have this set up, or know anything about it. Can you recomend this system? I dont have DSP in my 06 because my 04 had it and i thought it wasnt worth the money and figured i would get better sound if i put that money towards an aftermarket system. If you dont like BSW what systems do you recomend. I am also looking for something that will directly replace oem. I dont want to do custom fabrication at all and I want an oem appearance. Also what kind of a difference will the BSW system make over stock?

I believe you're in CT right? I ordered the JL Audio Stealthbox and A1200 Amp from the group buy not too long ago, and am thinking of going a different route. I was the first to buy the new stealth sub/amp kit, and have been very pleased with it. I don't want booming bass, so I don't have it set up really high. At my settings, it seems to just simply fill in the gap that the stock system had. Just like I want it.

Yes I do have questions about your subwoofer system. I currently have an 06 X5 with No DSP. So I dont have the subwoofer at all. How hard is it to connect your subwoofer to my stock system. Is there a connector already there and I can just plug and play or do I have to cut into somewires and splice stuff. Also does your kit include a bracket or something so that it can easily be installed Just like the oem subwoofer can.

My other question partains to the amp. In all pics ive seen it shows it mounted vertically where the dvd nav and cd changer go. But since I have a DVD nav and a cd changer. where do I put the amp. And how hard is it to mount the amp and wire it?
Also how do I control the bass of the subwoofer after install

Connections to the stock system are pretty easy. Only 5 wires. The rest to the power and sub enclosure are simple enough.

I cant comment on mounting the amp in your car as mine had no CD changer or NAV. There is probably enough room to mount it where the bluetooth ULF normally sits. The ULF is pretty small so could be relocated easily.

The amp has adjustment screws for the bass volume, bass boost and cutover frequency. Pretty easy to setup. I picked up the sub off the rear door speakers. If I listen to an album thats got an excess of bass I can use the fader to turn down the rear doors and subs together.

The sub made a hige difference. I would recommend at least the BSW mids as well.

Chris answered most of your questions. We do have a couple other options for mounting. With both CD changer and Nav unit the easiest place to mount is on the outside of the door that covers the Nav and CD changer.

We do offer a plug and play amplifier solution now for the x108 that plugs into the back of the head unit. You would simply run a twister pair of speaker level inputs to the rear of the vehicle. Just get power, ground and signal for the amplifier and you are all set.

Dinan, I have the new subwoofer kit from Bavarian Motorwerks and I'm very happy with it. I've had it for about 4 weeks. Like you, I had the standard sound system (no DSP) and the subwoofer has made a dramatic difference in the bass. The level of bass is just right -- rich, deep sound, but it isn't booming or overwhelming.

Also, the fit and finish of the sub enclosure is first-rate. Overall, I'm a very happy customer.
