Poor FM radio reception

Hi, ever since I bought my car, I've had poor (staticy) radio reception. All I care about is FM, not AM. This question is not about the well-known bad AM quality. Talking about 2001 X5 with 16:9 MK4 NAV unit.
I don't have any aftermarket tint or part in my car, everything is original BMW.
I tried to enter the radio menu to see if it's programmed in US mode, but no matter what I do, I cannot get into it.
I turned radio off, then on, and held the SELECT button for even more than 10 seconds. The system did not react at all. Is there any other way to enter that menu? I've read about holding the "M" key, but I can't find that on my car.
