sub humming

i used the instructions in the main page to install a amp and 2 12"s. even when i set the gain down to the lowest there is a slight hum.
what do you guys think it is?

i used a line to RCA converter to connect the high level feed to the amp. I did not use the high input on the amp. i used this connector in the previous set up to get the feed off the back speakers.
does that matter?

also the sub does not seem to be hitting as hard as when they were in my other car

fosgate 800.2 and 2 12" HE2 in a 01 navi no dsp

i have the humming too. my amp is hooked directly into bmw's sound system so its not just bass im picking up a few mids in there too. Ive lost 2 subs already because theyre working extra hard since theyre on all the time (humming) and its playing more than bass , but god damn does it hit hard.

Possibely a ground loop. Where did you get the ground from for your sub amp? What gauge did you use for the ground?

i think it was 4 guage. and i got the ground from the place the battery is grounded.. ( close to the box that the sub install said to use)

do you guys think it is because the signal wire that the instruction tells you to tap into is part of the ignition system and not the radio? i mean when i turn the radio off the amp is still on

If you tapped into the speaker wires leading up to the factory amp try soldering the wires.

It solved my problems.

I have a basslink II, not as powerful as your systems but it had the same problem. Humming and it was sounding weak. I followed the instructions on the main page to the dot. I then decided the only thing left to do was solder the wires and it solved everything
