AV in/out?

Hi, I have an 03 4.4, on the rear tunnel where the cup holders and tv button are there are two 3.5 mm sockets marked av in & av out.

I have connected an ipod to av in but cant seem to select it to play through the speakers anywhere, anyone have this in theirs?

If you are using a Headphone Jack from the iPod to the AV In, with another Headphone Jack, press and hold TV Button for a few seconds until it displays AV in your Screen. It will appear black. Press the play button on your iPod and you will hear it. Volume can be adjusted from the steering controls, but not the selection.

FYI, sound isn't so great coming out of this. I wonder if the iPod attachment would be better? Anyone else has any experience in this?

Audio will be in mono. You would always use an CD Changer-input AUX-in for stereo audio or something like the iLink as an iPod interface:

Hi Tom. I did know know it was in Mono. Besides, our CD Changer does not have any input, so how do I use this iLink and what is sold by BMW as an iPod accessory Kit? Thanks a million.

iLink is a 3rd party product we offer. You can use an AUX device in place of the CD Changer for stereo audio, or the DICE kit to integrate the iPod.

I don't think the US models were offered the A/V input as shown, at least I've never had a chance to see one in person.
