New Pioneer Nav Units

Just an FYI, the new AVIC Z2 and AVIC D3 are out on crutchfield. I am planning on getting one of these units installed in my 2003 X5, and I am going to use the bezel from www.mybimmer.net. I will let you guys know how it goes. It will be in about a month and I will post pics.

Awesome! Can't wait to see it installed.

I couldn't find the Z2 on Crutchfield or the Pioneer site. Is the Z1 going to be discontinued?

I think they are going to keep the Z1 around, but for some reason the price is about the same. I saw the Z2 selling for around $2500, which is probably going to be way out of my price range. The one problem with the D3 is that you have to take out the Nav CD in order to play a regular CD...so I might end up with the Z1 if it starts to come down in price.

Here is what it looka like installed, plus you loose the steering wheel controls and the CD changer. The novel solution here was to screw a CD changer under the glovebox

I've opted to go with the D3 over the Z1/Z2 for iPod controlability and color matching to BMW's classic red/orange. You can use a PAC's steering wheel adapter to retain the steering wheel controls... And unless I can get bimmerman to cut those prices on the bezels, I'm letting my installer foam one out...

Who is your installer...we are in the same city and I might use the same guy. I was thinking about using the guys at River Oaks Car Stereo, they gave me an install price of around $300...but they weren't going to make the bezel.

Im going to let Edwin, Tweeter Install Manager, perform the install. Im getting a list of stuff installed and he's making the bezel. Are you going with the Z1/Z2 or the D3?

Probably the Z1, I just don't want to take out the the Nav Disk everytime I play a CD.
