XMDirect Not Recognized

I'm trying to tackle a weekend install of XM Direct into my 03 X5 w/ DSP. I've connected the 3 pin and 6 pin to the Blitzsafe unit and made the connections from the Blitzsafe to the XMDirect. My problem is that the head unit does not recognize the satellite radio. I have no CD changer, so there are no extra connections going on here.

Anyone come across this issue? Any experiences or ideas would be most welcome.

Sorry, mine worked instantly when I plugged in the connections. Are you sure your XM Direct isn't a dud?

That's sort of where I am now. All feedback I've seen is that this is an easy, instant XM solution. I've checked everything I know, uninstalled and reinstalled, but to no avail.

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think blitzsafe works with DSP. Did you ask blitzsafe about this. They are just now testing DSP with their current systems.

You may be on to something there. I bought it from Bavarian Soundwerks, and the fitment indicates any 03 X5 and later.

I did some more searching on this site and others, and found one web site indicating that it won't work with DSP unless an 04 model.

I'll have to check with BavSound on Monday.

Statdoc, is your setup with DSP?

No DSP here, and it is on a 2005 X5.

Did you look here or here? Some good info there.

XM Direct will work with DSP, but you will need one of our converter kits. What is the model year of your X5?

More than likely you are in euro mode, perform the following steps in service mode:

1. Turn Radio Off.
2. Turn Radio On.
3. Press and hold the "m" button for about 10 seconds.
4. Press < or > to navigate and + or - to change settings. May also need to press certain Preset buttons to change settings as well.
5. When you see Euro, change it to USA.
6. Turn radio off to exit.

If these steps do not work, let me know the numbers you see on the 2nd screen in service mode, this will be in a SV xx-xx xx format.

Thanks to Jason at BavSound and Tom from Europeanautosource. My radio was set to Euro mode and the change to USA immediately fixed the problem.

The XM Direct does in fact work with DSP and Blitzsafe. I can now ditch the XM RoadyXT.

Cool! Yeah I guess its Blitzsafe, DSP, and Nav that are the problem.

DSP is compatible, NAV is not.
