speaker trouble

I have an 02 with factory speakers and radio, no dsp. I have noticed lately that when listening to bassy music, I have 1 or 2 subs that will make a gurggling sound. I have narrowed it especially to my passenger door. Sometimes the bass will hit, and then the next second, it sounds like it is popping or hitting something, the gurggling sound again. I had my dealership look at it, and they could not duplicate the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What you describe sounds like your mid bass/woofer driver in the passenger door is bottoming out. They will make a loud pop or slap sound if you push the excursion too far. Are you cranking it when you hear this? Is your bass setting cranked?

If you are hearing this when you are not listening loudly, it could be that particular channel of the amp having a problem or still a problem with the driver itself. Not too hard to check... just swap the passenger driver with the one in the driver's door. If the sound follows the speaker, replace the speaker. If the sound stays on the passenger side, investigate the amp and wiring. My 02.

I do not listen to music loudly, it seems to happen only when a song hits a certain bass. IT make that gurgling sound. IT happens between the passenger front and rear. I can not reproduce it. It happens at various sounds.

Do you know anyone that you can swap amps with to make sure its not the amp? I assume it happens with any input source (FM, IPOD, etc). Also, if the speaker coil is damaged or if there is a torn cone or surround you can get a gurgling sound too. If you don't feel like talking the drivers out to inspect them or swap them with the other side, I'm sure a good stereo shop could diagnose the problem quickly. However, if you think it is happening in more than one speaker, then I'd start looking into the amp/electronics.

I do not know anyone for this. I have brought this up with the dealership and they could not reproduce the sound. However, whenever I listen to songs, especially on the radio with bassy music, red hot chili peppers, or something like mudvayne. I think I have narrowed it to the passenger side bass, will "bottom out"
