Smile Audiotext Soloution

Hi Guys,

Today I stumbled across a 'soloution' to my Nav unit not being able to display Audiotext - maybe this will help others. It could just be a coincidence.

I have a 2004.5 X5 but retofitted nav using parts from a 2006 4.8is. I have an MP3 compatible changer, the 2006 screen (latest part number), MK4 and the latest radio 276 (275 in the US). Software is V26/

After I installed the unit if I hit INFO the unit would say AUDIOTEXT but it was not selectable! No Audiotext was displayed.

Today for the first time I switched to FULL SCREEN instead of Split Screen. When I hit the INFO button in full screen I got the AUDIOTEXT option and it was tickable! I ticked it and Audiotext is now displayed! I also 'unlocked' another option on the info screen called NAVMIN which has a selectable value. I don't know what this does.

I switched back to split screen and I still have Audiotext! Go figure!

Regards.

PS: make sure your nav has the latests SW version (4-1/91). Also, if in Australia, you may wish to change the nav region to Europe to eliminate the start-up screen.

And you may also be interested to know that, as of last night, I can now get speed camera icons displaying on the nav systems (in AUS and NZ).

I think Navmin is the volume control for the voice guides

Question: before you installed the MP3 changer did the unit display the AUDIOTEXT option which was not selectable? Or did that option appear after you plugged in the changer?

Barry,

I always had the MP3 change intsalled (before I did the NAV retrofit). So, the unit displayed the AUDIOTEXT option which was not selectable from the time i first powered up with NAV, Radio and Monitor.

Audiotext is only selectable on the CD Changer screen, pressing INFO, when a MP3 or Windows Media CD is actually used. It should be selectable in either Split screen or Full screen modes.

Nav Min, is the Nav command volume relative to the Radio volume.
