does anyone have this remote radar detector in their x5, and can anyone recommend a good pro installer in the nyc area for my e70?

Is this one better than the V1? I can see that it is "permanently" installed in the vehicle but does it really outperform the Valentine?

I have used the V1 in both my bimmers for several years now (see my story on V1 website for August 2004), excellent product. I spent a lot of time in DC and NoVA area due to my work, and drove by the VG-2s so many times without an incident, that I swear by the V1.

Skarlet, check the Circuit City, they are Beltronics authorized installers (except for VA and DC). They might help you out...

v1 performs slightly better with X and K bands, but the bel has a laser shifter that diverts lasers. also the v1 is notorious for false positives. i can program them on rx75....and, the whole system is totally hidden. i dont want anything on my dash, on my windshield, in my lighter, etc. the difference in detection is really negligble when traveling 80mph, and i'd have an advantage with lasers.

was also looking for a real pro installer...i have a brand new e70 and i wouldnt let the high school kids in circuit city touch it...this is not the easiest install. thx for the reply

Thanks for the info - I've looked at the results, they are impressive. Too bad I am not on the market for a new detector now, I might have reconsidered my options - I am in Costa Rica sporting Dip. license plates, so the detecting is not as actual as it used to be in the States...

You are in the NYC area - several years ago I have dealt with GUARANTEED ALARM in Brooklyn. I am not sure about the exact address, they are on Coney Island Avenue, just off the Belt Parkway - as you get off the parkway SOUTH, towards the Brighton Beach, they are on the left, they have a shop right there, about 50 meters from the overpass bridge. They installed an alarm that was aftermarket in the E34 that I used to have then, the install was stellar, like the factory. The shop is ran by the Russians, Russians are notorious for driving S600's, G-wagens, M3's, M5's and other high end wheels, and would not allow a high-scool kid f*** up their ride...
Just make sure they are not taking advantage of you - they are notorious for that too...

I don't think mentioning my name will get you anywhere, as my install was back in 2001, the original guys are probably shot dead by the Russian MAFIA or deported by the DHS/INS...lol...

Regardless, worth a try...

Have fun,

TerminatorX5

We install the Escort Version of that system the SR7plus. I have only done K40 systems in the new E70's but the Escort/Bel would be no issue.
