OEM Subwoofer question

Will the stock DSP subwoofer work with a Non-DSP system?

Thanks!

Yes...but you'll need a separate AMP to drive the sub.

Theoretically...yes, you can use your stock amp to drive the sub...but it won't sound good. The stock amp have built-in cross-over, which is set rather high for the sub, even if you choose the "woofer" line out of the amp. Besides, the OEM sub is just made out of a couple 6.5". So, if you drive it with your stock amp, it will just sound as if you have added a couple of extra door speakers. IMHO, even if you get the proper amp to drive it, the OEM sub won't sound as deep and tight as a single 8" or 10". Why do you think everyone is dumping their OEM sub for the BSW or JL Audio?

Correct...unless you have the DSP system, which have a separate amp for the sub (with the proper cross-over). Only then, would adding an aftermarket sub improve your sound. If you have the standard setup, you'll need to add a separate amp to drive any sub.

What he said....though I'm kind of disappointed with the BSW Sub. It sounds just like my stock DSP sub. Yes, I have the Alpine Amp as well. I actually had to max the gain and crossover to get the sound I wanted.

Socal, give our tech support a call, your bass should be much louder than that.
