AV in/out connection

There is an AV IN/out jacks near the back air condition outlet.
Is it possible to use these for handling both Audio and Video signals? or just Audio signals.

The A/V IN/OUT jack will handle both - but only in mono.

Thanks for ur reply.
So, if i have portable DVD player, i can connect direct to the AV IN which i should be able to see on the TV monitor through AV channel?
By the way, which cable shall i use?
