Factory DVD player firmware?
Does anyone know if there is a firmware update for the BMW factory DVD palyer. I have the BMW RSE kit with the headrest monitors. The sound will randomly go off. If I turn the DVD player off and then back on again, the sound will come back. I really think it is an issue with the player but just in case I have verified the connections a gazillion times.
Will an aftermarket DVD player use the same connection? I am thinking about just swapping out the player and keeping the headrest screens and all the existing wiring in place.

There will not be a firmware update offered to the end user with the BMW factory system, however it sounds to me like you may have a pinched wire or a bad connection somewhere in the system. If you are okay with it you should try removing the screens and making sure all your wires are snug. If you are uncomfortable with trying to fix it yourself, of course you should take the system back to your dealer and have it swapped out. If you need additrional assistance please let me know.
