The Dice Silverline does not allow ipod click wheel operation so you can't cue up movies. This is mainly the reason I prefer the regular Dice product.

If you find a video adapter for the nav system with 2 video inputs, then a back up camera could be incorporated.

Get in touch with Tom at EAS for a solution that fits you.

I have a couple of the 1st Generation DICE kits that zerochief is referring to here available via special request.

Hey there, Tom-

Perhaps you can clarify something for me: I have a 1st-gen DICE module that I've never installed. I currently have an iceLink installed, and have been contemplating upgrading to a DICE Silverline so I can get USB-charging for my iPhone 3G.

What functionality will I lose if I install the Silverline vs. the 1st-gen DICE? I read where click-wheel function goes away with the Silverline, and I was looking forward to relying on that, as I'll be using a spec.dock mount in my X5's ashtray.

Would you mind a quick primer on the difference between the original DICE and the silverline?

Thanks!
-Dave

Both have the same core features, The main enhanced features of the SILVERLINE would be the following:

Browse by Artist with full Artist Directory listings
Browse by Album with full Album Directory listings
Browse by Playlist with full Playlist Directory listings
ID3 text display, showing Artist, Song title and Album while the song is in play.
USB compliant charging for current model iPods/3G iPhone

We do not recommend ashtray mounts, this adds no useable features to the system.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, Tom. I see you listed the new added features of the Silverline, and that's helpful to me. What about features or functions that were deleted from the original, like clickwheel operation?

I'm curious based on this comment:

Finally, thanks for your unsolicited criticism of my spec.dock (below). I happen to disagree with you as I use my iPhone as the primary iPod both in my X5 and when I travel. I find the spec.dock design to be a clean, stealth way to house the iPod in the car, and charge it for use outside the car. Perhaps its semantics, while it may not provide additional features, it provides a crtical function with a high level of aesthetic excellence. To each his own!
