BSW Sub Question

I have the BSW x108 Subwoofer System for BMW X5 00-06 and it appears to have a connection issue within the enclosure. It recently started to have intermittent issues where it would produce sound then would not. It has now gotten to the point it doesn't produce any sound.

The troubleshooting I've performed thus far revealed the following:
  • Checked all fuses
  • The amp is working properly (hooked up to another sub)
  • wires all have solid connections to sub and amp
While checking things out, my wrist happened to touch the cone and sound was briefly produced from the sub. It appears that something is wrong with a connection inside the sub as it will play if I lightly touch the cone.

My question is: can the sub be removed from the enclosure to check the inside? I didn't want to start prying the trip off not knowing if there was a way to go about it without causing perm. damage?

It sounds like either the voice coil is on its way out, or that one of the tinsel leads from the terminal to the voice coil has worked itself loose.

Either way, we'll get it taken care of. But, to answer your question, you can just unscrew the woofer from the front of the enclosure and visually inspect the woofer and wiring connections to make sure that no wires are loose or torn.
If you don't see anything, just give us a call so that we can get this handled for you as quickly as possible.
