You would have to decide upon the changer or the iPod, the DICE/iPod combo will offer much more than any CD changer can offer.

upon hearing my ipod in the x5 after the dice silverline install today at EAS, i have no idea why anyone would want to keep their changer. it really sounds excellent.

the controls work perfectly on the steering wheel and on the head unit: by playlist, by song or by artist...everything. the install was about 40 minutes and i was on my way.

excellent product from dice. thanks tom!

Question

Tom...with the original Dice, I was able to send text data to my cluster (I have Nav) via selecting 6-3. I prefer that setup. However, with the Silverline It appears I can only display text on the nav screen. Do you find this to be true?

Using CD6/TRACK3 will port the text over to the OBC, but the vehicle will need to be running to see.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
Hmmm..the Bose Soundock portable is a 3rd party device yet it allow you to control click wheel on 160gb.

What about the sound then on the new Silverline, same as original Dice?

I just need a clarification... With my 80 GB IPOD classic, if I purchase either original or silverline, I will have to manually remove from dock in order change say from podcast to songs or movies (just the audio part)or audiobooks, because of the "locked" feature. I am not equipped with NAV, just Board Computer, so I was wondering if the number buttons could circumvent the removal.

Same audio quality will be present in both units, the SILVERLINE offers the enhanced features for browsing.

Just bought a 2006 X5 with DSP, NAV, and Sirius. From researching this Ipod issue, I've determined that I think I can use the Dice Silverline even though I have DSP AND NAV, correct?? I do not have a disc changer, and I also have sirius. What are my options?? Also, I'm not much of a DIY guy. Thanks for any help!!

Since you have a MY06 X5, you will have analog DSP - the additional DSP adapter is not needed. Otherwise, you are compatible with NAV.

Here's the kit you need:

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for X5 00-06 (Trunk Interface)

Let me know if you need anything else.
