Pre-wiring for a 6 CD Changer: Problems?

I am having a devil of a time trying to locate the 6 and 3 pin plugs in the x5 (trying to retrofit a OEM changer in). I know they should be in the left rear compartment but I cannot find them. Any idea where they would be (tucked into a corner, etc)?

They may not be there at all!!!
The CD changer preparation (harness and mounting bracket) is an option. Call BMW and give them the last 7 characters of your chassis number and ask for a print of the car's equipment. This will show if the CD preparation was ordered when built.

It would help if you provided more information about your specific vehicle.
Some time the connectors are wrapped up with black tape along with the wires behind where the CD player mounts.

All US X5s were prewired for a CD Changer, these will be located in the cargo area behind the liner. The connections will be a 3-pin and 6-pin connector.
