Get a Loewe or Lear amp, they are newer. The Lear amps are the newest. Any DSP amp will work in your car, but I recommend you get it coded.
Here's a write-up that talks about the differences. http://bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/204027/

Yes, that amp would work perfectly in your car (assuming you have DSP). Just to be absolutely sure, what year do you have?

Yes, the amp in that listing would work. Your amp is one part number generation newer, but that will not matter for compatibility. Here is a listing of all the part numbers I know about in the order they were released. The newest is at the top, and the oldest is at the bottom.
65.12-6 940 977 (newest) 65.12-4 127 873 65.12-6 930 514 65.12-6 941 246 65.12-6 939 392 65.12-6 933 875 65.12-6 905 119 65.12-6 901 881 65.12-6 903 668 65.12-8 386 281 65.12-8 375 788 65.12-8 376 262 65.12-4 140 379 65.12-4 140 250 65.12-8 360 790 65.12-8 376 053 65.12-8 372 197 65.12-8 352 296 65.12-8 377 936 65.12-8 362 175 (oldest)

Brian, I've read through the article you linked to.. thank you!
My question is, how do you get the amp "coded" for your car? Is this done at a dealership? or is there software and a computer connection i can get? Lastly, I'm having problems with my audio setup in my 2002 X5. I believe everything is hooked up to the amp (the PO had installed an aftermarket amp and so i've been in the process of splicing the wires back to the original harness) but i dont get any sound to the speakers. i've checked the 2 blade fuses in the trunk but is there a relay that could be the problem? when the amp is connected i get the DSP button on the nav screen so i think it's recognizing it properly. THANK YOU for any help you can give. Nate |
