Exclamation dial display disappeared!

Hi newbie to this site and have just tried to mod my dials with chrome inserts which has proved more of a headache than has been put up on the site. firstly i could not for love nor money part the backing of the dials with the front plate to get to the actual dials themselves i followed the thread clearly but if you check the mod is not a x5 dial cluster so kind of doesnt count. when i abandoned this and placed me display back in the housing and connected the 3 plugs back on all i get is the parking handbrake light on nothing else can anybody help i now have no digital display!. I have a 2001 x5 3.0i rhd thanks

Damn..when the pros get a hold of this, they'll straighten you out..(JVZ, you out there?)..All I can advise is that you make sure all the pins are lined up in the housing..I dont know how many jumpers there are to reconnect, but just double check 'em to be safe...

We'll sort you out mate!

Make sure all your connections are firm and inspect the pins on those harness jacks to make sure none are bent. Those 2 harnesses need to be lined up so each of the pins goes into the respective receptacle. You mentioned 3 connections? Stupid thing to point out, but they are color coded . Do you have the gauges themselves working? Will the needles move?

Hi guys thanks for the replies already. will try al the suggestions so far and keep you updated. I have replaced all the connectors back into the right colour housings( could have been a valid one!) but the speedo fuel and temp gauges do work so its kinda pointing me in the digital display direction cheers again. looking on the bright side though I'm getting my multimedia installed next week. Alpine PKG 1000p roofmount with the alpine multi changer ps2, 200g harddrive and jl audio cleansweep hopin this is a good setup or if others know otherwise please holla back at me.

Cool. You must be in Europe or Canada (Yanks drop the "u" in coloured), you may have some subtle differences in your X. If the gauges work but the orange lights in the display don't, after checking the pins and the harness, check the corresponding fuse also. You didn't by any chance remove your cluster while your key was in the ignition, did you?
