Help! Just installed ice link plus and there is no sound????

I have a 2003 X5 4.4 with DSP, no Nav. Checked and did not have a coxial cable just the 6 and 3 pin so I connected the ice link without a DSP adapter and everythig seems to work fine including text. All buttons seem to work fine. Was able to change all settings. But there is no sound at all!!!!!!!

Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks Again

I had a simillar problem with my Dension kit (I-20) and it started working after pushing both connectors connected to the little "converter board" which plugs into the wire coming from the CD changer connection to the Dension cradle.

I'd suggest to turn off the ignition so the radio is off , turn on the igniton and radio and see if the connectors are the problem (it seems on some of the boards the plastic protection for the plugs overlaps the area where the plug should seat flush).

I still had sound quality issues (highs not as clear as CD) and will probably end up using the AUX input and a custom integration with a remote control as I'd like to keep my CD Changer and Sirius just in case

Check again to see if the 6-pin connector is a dead line and there is a coaxial cable present. Was there a CD Changer pre-installed?

Tom,
It had no CD changer. I thought that if there was a 6 pin there would be no coaxial cable? I will look tonight and follow the line as far as it goes. I will also check all connections again.
Thanks

Hi Tom,

don't want to derail the thread but I was wondering if you've ever
heard of the problem where the sound from the iPOD connected via
the Dension ICElink sounds disorted and if connected via the
AUX input it sounds fine ??

Thx,

Jan

Sometimes vehicles have both (my 5-series has this as well). Double-check to see if it's there.

What was the gain set on via the icelink? It should be 2V. If it's 4V, it will sound distorted.

I tried all levels and it didn't seem to make a huge difference , I'll give it another try over the weekend and see if I can reproduce it.

Thx,

Jan

Jan - you might also want to try upoading the latest firmware (v2-2B2 is the latest as far as I know) to see if that makes any difference.

Firmware is not going to help in this situation as he already has control over the iPod. It's strictly a signal issue. I believe you have DSP in this vehicle (Digital) and just haven't found the coaxial cable.
