Strange DSP behaviour

I've got an odd thing going on with my DSP.

I have set up my DSP setting in "memo 1" and all works fine.
If a leave the car for a while and turn the stereo on, for some reason the DSP won't automatically use the memo 1 settings, it appears to deafult to "flat" settings. I then have to go into the DSP settings and select memo 1 again
Is this normal?
Is there any way to force the DSP to use memo 1 by default without having to go into the DSP menu every time. I've looked in the manual and it all looks so simple

BTW, I did suffer a flat bettery recently, but I can't see that this has affected the DSP because it remembers all the setting for memo 1, it just forgets to use them
