Chefwong: My digital camera is broken but hope to be able to post pics within the week. I have the first double din X5 bezel made by mybimmer.net. I have also promised him pics for his webpage. I am very pleased with the end result. There is no protusion whatsoever. It is a completely flush install and the bezel slightly curved so that it follows the exact lines of the dash. I now have navigation with a touch screen, the steering wheel controls work and my ipod is hardwired and works with the Pioneer. My next project is the speaker/amp upgrade.

Here is a really bad picture taken with my cell phone from a bad angle into the sun. I will post better pics when the digital camera gets fixed.

Looks good. Now let's see some screenshots of the audio & Navi <g>. If you did DIY, I guess there's plenty of room back there that you don't need to mod the vents. I was told otherwise about the vents on the X..

I checked out the N1 myself. E-brake issues are easily hacked but for a 1K deck, one would expect XM to stream all the characters vs. cutting off. Too bad it doesn't have the N1/N2 feature of being able to upload your own background.

Hey Berm - now get that solder and mod those leds to amber :-)

What was your solution for the computer?

Did you mount the OEM stereo under the front seat or something? Cus I took out the head unit and rehooked up the data line and nothing? Does the factory need a code to get going again?

My original computer functions were very basic (mpg, avg speed, miles left) as I did not get the more advanced package that was an option. The result is that when the OEM radio was removed, these same computer functions are all still working. I can't tell you why other then to surmise that the "brain" is located somewhere other then in the OEM radio.

My installer did not tell me that he did anything special. He did, however, tell me going into the install that I would loose these functions. I'm glad he was wrong.
