That tells me that you likely don't have it. DSP stand for Digital Signal Processor, and it was the optional high-end audio system for BMW in that era.

In the US, BMW pre-wired all vehicles for a CD changer. I'm not sure that is the case for the European market, so it is possible that your vehicle isn't pre-wired. If it is pre-wired then you should find a 3-pin connector and 6 pin connector somewhere back in the electronics bay. They are sometimes tucked away, so you really have to take the time to search for it.

6 pin

Hi! Ucrewx5,

I ordered the intravee II for my Ipod and waiting for the delivery and so with the Alpine KCA-420i. I inspected my x5 and found only the 3 pin and cannot locate the 6 pin but I do have have DSP and can see the coaxial cable loose. In the intravee, if I don't have the 6 pin, is the plug for the coaxial cable will serve as replacement of 6 pin? Will it work as the 6 pin? Thanks!

Regards,

x5whyt

No this is not possible. The Intravee has a female 6pin plug and you cannot plug the coaxial into it. The only solution is to find a way to convert the coaxial to a 6pin.

I recommend contacting Richard at the Intravee forums http://www.intravention.co.uk/forum/

There are DSP adapters available. EAS has them, and other vendors may have them as well. The Intravee forums should help give you some guidance on this topic, as noted by Essam.
