Transpod FM Modulator
[QUOTE=Tom G.]If you are using the iPod in multiple cars and don't live around cities with lots of tall buildings, this will work as an economical solution, but the sound quality is far from comparable. [QUOTE]
I tried a couple of the cheaper FM modulators and found them to be terrible for a couple reasons. One was sound quality and the other was not being able to maintain the frequency very well. I was skeptical of buying another FM modulator, but a salesman at Best Buy said that a number of their guys were using the Transpod unit. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1072287118476 Since they have a 10 day return program, I decided to give it a try and I have been very pleased with it. It is not inexpensive but is built very well. It has a digital tuner with 4 digital presets or it can be manually tuned to any station. Sometimes in big cities, I will have issues as a strong local station will try to overpower the unit. It is very easy to manually change frequencies, so I move up or down the frequency range until I get a clear station. The sound quality is not up to CD level, but it sounds at least as good as a good strong FM station, which is sufficient for me. I like that it is easily transportable between cars. It also charges the IPOD during use. |

New IPod Mini FM Modulator that works!
I posted this in the x5 group as well. Nice thing about this one is that it is only 49, hit is one part, and has a flexible neck for positioning up high or off th the right.
I just got an IPod mini and a Belkin TuneBase FM for iPod mini. $49 at Belkin. It sounds very good, and a lot cheaper than getting it wired or a 6 disk changer. It also has a flexible-steel neck that holds the IPod up in the air. Details Play your iPod mini through your car's stereo wirelessly — and charge it, too! TuneBase™ FM plugs into your vehicle's DC power socket and your iPod mini mounts to the end of its flexible-steel neck — conveniently at hand for safe use while driving. Its built-in transmitter wirelessly connects to the car's sound system via multiple FM channels (from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz) and features an LCD for easily finding the optimal frequency by scanning or with four presets. Measures 11" long. Three-year warranty. $49.99 at Belkin http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_ID=186770 http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/c...321933/pcatid=2 Kevin Basso 2001 X5 3.0i |
