Ipod via Intravee II/KCA-420i coming soon...

Today I received my Intravee II from BMWNav. The cost was $250.

I am waiting on the an Alpine KCA-420i, which I ordered last week from Sonic Electronix. Delivery is scheduled for tomoorw, and the cost was $90. It was harder than expected to find this device on the web as it appears to have had its hey-day around 2004-2006 (based on productr reviews), and inventory is down or it has been discontinued by most retailers.

I opted for this configurtation over DICE due to ease of install and the interface. Assuming I don't need to update my Intravee software, it appears installation is about as simple as a DIY job can get. Once I have it all installed I will provide my review.

BTW, my car is a 2006 X5 with DSP and Nav, neither of which matters much with the Intravee confirguration I gather as it uses the 3 and 6 pin connections, not the DSP coax.

I think you will have to update the firmware, a 2006 car will have the latest BM53 radio module.

Best find yourself a laptop with serial port or a USB->serial adapter, details on the Intravee forum in the FAQ section, also register your Intravee to get access to the download tool and firmware update.

just ordered mine as well. Going to sell the dice and go with the intravee II. Much better solution for nav cars.

I also ordered the CD changer from alpine (mp3 and reg CDs).

I also (will) have factory sirius module. I read in the article on home page that the poster had to do some modification to the module for it to work. Is this an easy thing? does it void any warranty etc?

I'll be selling my dice setup once this is done.

How did the install go? Any issues with the Alpine unit from Sonic? I've heard that Alpine unit only supports 250 artists...

Just undo the 4 screws on the Intravee case and move the jumper on the pins near the BMW audio connector accross to the next 2 pins.

512 Playlists/Artists/Albums/Albums by an Artist actually.

Searching songs in the current selection (Playlist/Album/Artist) is limited to 256, but you can play any number, including Random mode, and use the < and > keys to skip or go back.
