Ice>link problems

I got two issues I am trying to resolve.
1. The text display on the radio turns to aux 1 and I cant control the ipod but the music still plays. It will function again after I play a song or two with the cd player or radio.

2. I get a hiss on the speaker. Everytime I accelerate the noise gets louder, its picking up the engine noise. Do I need to insulate the wire connector? I tried following the diagram posted here (switching the location of the ground wire) but it didnt solve the problem.

system info
I got the latest firmware for the Icelink
X5 non DSP
no Nav

Where was the ice>Link purchased from originally? What generation iPod are you working with?

Either the wire pushed its way out - or you may have to move to the radio interface kit, some BMWs are more sensitive to engine noise than others.

One other thing I always mention with any car having noise issues - is your battery strong? Weak batteries are a huge factor in noise problems...

I bought the Ice>Link from bestbuy. I have a 4th gen ipod 20Gb.

I dont think I have any problem with my battery.

"radio interface kit"? BTW the iPod and the cradle are in the trunk driver side (dont know if it matters).

Has the cabling about been routed? If not, try rerouting ther cable to see if the noise goes away - it may be picking up interference from other sources.

On my way to work this morning icelink crashed again, I cant change the track and the text display is not working, it will start with "..." then itll change to "cd1-99" then it will stay at "aux 1" but the music is still playing.
Do I have a bad Ice>link?

There's a loss of communication between the ice>Link Plus and the iPod. Check to see if the iPod is firmly seated on the connector and/or perform a soft reset.

You can do this by pressing on the MENU and Center buttons for +5 seconds.
