JL Audio Amp Help

Hello all,

I bought a setup from a fellow user and need a few pointers complete my setup with a JL 1200a amp and stealthbox sub.

I followed BSW PDF/Video on their install and have the 1200a instructions as well along with the previous users cables (and extras).

I wired the whole thing to completion and found that when I have the RCA's plugged into the amp (L and R) the sub output is diminished....when I only have one plugged in (either one) it sounds so much better.

BSW's PDF says that I might have a + - switched up but I rechecked and think I'm good.

The only issue that I can thin of would be the cables. I have spliced RCA cables which I don't think he used....instead he made his own RCA with speaker wire. Again, I don't think the positive/negatives are messed up as I checked his custom connections as well.

Oh...I've spliced for connections at the connection at the amp (non-dsp)

Let me know what you guys think

Thanks

Usually this is caused by reversing the positive and negative speaker wires ... if you are sure that you have connected them correctly then I would suggest an RCA to speaker wire ready made adaptor (instead of splicing)

That seems to be the issue. I did go out and buy some RCA's with live ends from Radio Shack but before I install those...maybe not needed any more. I spliced one of the connections to the amp and cross the wires. Fired right up with more power than just a single connection. I guess I'll have to decide whether or not I want to rewire the mess again or leave the hack job I originally did.

Thanks, Essam, I've read many of your posts for help, you're a great contributer

I'll also reach out to others who have this set up for their settings as well....for the best sound. I hate 'huge' bass that draws attention...I just want to capture lows to make the music more lively.
