BMW X5 Bluetooth Module

Hi I have a 2005 X5 4.4 with factory radio. The console has a phone button and I would like to pair my phone. The dealer told me that the cost for the module and installation would be $1700. Can anyone tell me what module and or parts I need and how I can install it.
Thanks

You need to confirm the spec of your car with the dealer, namely that it has option SA640 "Car Telephone Preparation", otherwise you'll need to get wiring. I can't give you the part numbers for an E53, but if you read this thread of mine for an E46 it will give you a pretty good idea of what is needed. You can do it for much cheaper than $1700

I have a 2005 X5 4.4 and depending on the build date
you may already have all that you need. I do. Check this out.

And "no" you don't need the Voice Recognition (VR) module.
That's an option that is not required to pair your phone.

See http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/bl..._Bluetooth.pdf for some tips on how to install it yourself.
