Elemental designs sub box & woofer combo

First I would like to thank dibs, essam, zerochief, and everyone who contributed to the previous threads on custom sub boxes for the X5. Reading through those threads has saved me some time and money. My wife was very disappointed in the factory system when we picked up the X5 in Oct of last year. Her e46 328is had a nice Harmon Kardon system and she wanted the truck to sound similar but it was lacking in the bass department. First thing I checked out was the obvious JL and BSW stealthboxs but I just couldn't see myself spending that much money without researching other options. I remembered seeing dibs thread on the design and someone contacted ED about building it, so I decided to do the same. I got in contact with Brett at ED and told him what I wanted to do and he said no problem. I received the sub first which is the 11Kv.2 model and just looking at I could tell that it was a good quality subwoofer that was perfect for what I needed. Then I received the box a couple of weeks later, which was nicely finished will black paint, did a test fit and it went in perfectly.

Right now the sub is installed in the box and since its dual 2ohm I have it wired for a 4ohm load and this thing sounds amazing. I'm waiting on the speaker level input wires so that I can install it in the truck, but I do have it hooked up to my system in my e36 328ic and it bumps. I have a pioneer amp running 380watts Rms @ 4ohms that will power it and when the install is complete I will upload more photos and details.

Looks great! Have the dimensions on it? I'm looking to do this in the next couple of weekends.

Ive been speaking with Brett myself for the last week or so, and he was waiting on a response from a customer regarding this box and if the cover fit back on.

He confirmed with me today that it would, but it rattles from the bass. Just curious if this is you?

Yeah he contacted me about it. It should but I pre modified mine in prep for the install. I followed the jl install guide and used other info from other threads and I cut the tabs and removed the padding from the back of the door. I'm probably going the route of Pewter in this thread:

and install a grill. I'll update this weekend when I don't have class and work to do. Thanks

Finished installing the amp and wiring and all is well. The wife is happy and the system has new life.
Tapping in to the factory amp wiring for the speaker level and remote wire connections

There is already a cluster of electronics in the compartment so I won't be installing my amp on that side, plus I think its too big to fit anyways.

Final install pic and I have a coworker cutting the 10" hole in the panel door then I'll install the grill and be done with this project. I ended up placing the amp on the back of the seat for a clean look and ease of adjustment.

i have 380watts @ 4 ohms going to it and I'm trying to get a good audio clip to give everyone an idea of the difference. I'll try again tonight and if you need one I have an extra speaker level input harness that fits most amps. Good luck with the project.

I'll be running 300W (closer to 350) from an Apline PDX-5, incredibly small amp so I am going to mount it on the other side.

Adding any additional speakers or just the sub? I am adding some nice Image Dynamics components so it should sound great when all finished.

Post up the video if you get it up
