Sirius ques

I know this ques has been asked a thousand times but i cant find the answer. Does the receiver have to get upgraded in order to run Sirius from it. I currently have a 2001 X5 with the factory unit. and if so what part number should i look for. Thanks for any help

Im not sure which model i have but i do have Nav. Will i have to buy a new head unit?
