half din DVD player from ebay..

Has anyone tried this unit as yet?
820 IN DASH HALF DIN USB SD MP4 DIVX CAR DVD PLAYER - eBay (item 250548899415 end time Feb-13-10 01:38:09 PST)

I am looking to try a standalone dvd player mounted to the back of the headrest.

I cant really sacrifice the stock headrest to replace it with the ebay ones.. it just has a weird shape...

I would basically be using a mounting bracket, a 7" or 9" standalone TFT monitor and the half din DVD player above...

Any input/suggestions welcome....

what are you worried about? the price isnt super cheap, its like average price for no name stuff.
you can test the player by hooking up to any 12V unit and then plug the RCA outs into a TV

i really want something that will take a component input

yeah.. i did the install.. about 1 hour... pics attached.
A few things I noticed:
1- the monitor could be a bit closer to the headrest, but because of the mount design, its a few inches away.
2- will try to relocate the cable from comming out the left bottom of the monitor to the rear.. so that I can hide it better.
3- the plastic mount shakes a bit while driving. I will try to strenghten it a bit by adding a strip of metal underneat..
4- I tapped in to the flashlight power by the glove box area. I had no clue how to remove my center console. I noticed when braking, there is a slight distortion with the picture. Probably power loss... any input is welcomed...
5- I went with the 9'' screen.. and i think its a bit too big.. should have gone with the 7''.

I plan to mount the dvd player in the glove box one day.
DVD player comes with a remote eye that can be located anywhere..

All in all.. its a pretty cheap (but sort of ghetto) solution...
