How to browse mp3 directories [SOLVED]
I hope someone can help me figuring this out. I can't browse the directories with mp3 files on my cd's in the cd changer. Here is my setup: - 4:3 monitor / display - BM54 RAD Radio Onderdeelnummer 6 976 963, versie HW 04, SW 43, gemaakt door Becker op 04/09 (januari 2009) - cd changer CDCD CD changer DIN Onderdeelnummer 6 977 766, versie HW 40, SW 49, gemaakt door Alpine op 37/05 (september 2005) It plays mp3's, ID3tags are displayed, everythig works fine, except for browsing the directories. So for exemple, when I want to listen to TR06-001 on CD1, I have to push the skip button from TR01-001 through TR05-19, and then one more time to get to TR06-001. Came across a picture on bimmernav.com (see attachment) where there is clearly a way to browse to the desired directory. Does anyone know the secret? Is it the 4:3 monitor I have, the CD changer, or am I just pressing the wrong buttons. Thanks. Last edited by Joor12; 12-22-2010 at 08:32 AM. Reason: problem solved |

Computer is a great device for storing and playing music. While with CD players you should look for a particular disc on your shelves or racks (or, perhaps, it is somewhere in the cellar?), take the disc out of its case, press a button on your CD player, insert the disc, and so on, computer can start playing immediately. Moreover, it can play a mix of your favorite songs, and you can change the playlist at every moment without need to burn another CD.
That's the reason why many people rip Audio CDs that they purchase and save the tracks as audio files on their computers. However, it is easy to get into situation when you need to sort your files. For example, you may have ripped all of your songs into one folder. It was easier that way, and it was OK while there were not many files. But as your collection grows, it becomes really hard to find anything there.

Thanks for replying maxshelor, I agree with everything you've said, however it doesnt help me much.
The CD in the CD-changer in my car is burnt with 6 directories (albums), each containing a number of mp3 files (songs) with ID3v2 tags. When the cd is playing it starts with the first directory and first song. (TR01-001) When you press the skip button it plays the second song in the first directory. (TR01-002) In order to play the first song in the second directory (TR02-001) you have to push the skip button 20 times (as there are 20 mp3 files in the first folder) I was wondering if there is another way to go to the second directory, and came across the mentioned picture on bimmernav.com. Problem, I can't get this to work, I don't know wich button to push to get to the next directory, or if it is even possible with my setup. Perhaps this works only with an 16:9 monitor, or with a different cd-changer or BM54 radio. Hope anyone knows. |

Problem Solved!!
Apparently the 16:9 monitor has a "sel" button which allows you to skip through the directories (albums), as shown in the picture from bimmernav.com. The 4:3 monitor hasn't got that particular button. So I upgraded to a 16:9 monitor and it works like a charm. |
