Factory BMW Amp issues.... 2003 X5 4.4i
I am new to the forum, I have a 2003 BMW X5 4.4i when I purchased the vehicle the factory amp was not working properly it was playing loud static and distortion through the speakers. I purchased a replacement amp from a junk yard with the same serial/part number and everything seems to work fine but after about 30 seconds the sound cuts off, what do i need to do to fix this issue? Thanks Ed Last edited by Tropical; 12-28-2010 at 05:54 PM. |

Well my 02 had the exact same issue. Played with static and not all speakers worked. (sounded like the speakers were blown) so I replaced the factory amp with a kenwood 4 channel and all was good, until I turned it up one time and lost 3 of my 6 inch door speakers..... turns out I burnt the wires between the plug for the speaker it's self and the the speaker. (about a 1inch long piece of bare wire)
I replace the four speakers and all is good. Does your work again if you turn the car off and on again? |

Replaced the factory amp with a used oem amp. Plays just fine for 30 seconds or so, then the sound just stops. Radio seems to be still funtioning, however no sound at all. Turn the radio off then back on, and we have sound again for 30 seconds or so. Yes everytime you turn the car off (or just the radio), comes back on for a short time, then...no sound.

Thanks Brian, that's what I thought. Just curious if there was an easier solution that would avoid the trip to the dealer. Thanks again!
