2005 X3 - Aux Mode Not Showing up?? Help!

First off - thanks to Brian-BMW for the part numbers to make my own cable..

i built the cable with according to bmw manual with the 0.22uf capacitors and 300kOhm resistor. Plugged L/R into pins 3/4 and ground to pin 10.

I Turned on the car, held the [m] button and still can not get it to switch to Aux mode.

I vaguely remembering having Aux mode at some point... not sure though.

The radio *should* have AUX mode. It shows the manufacture date as 01-05.

Any suggestions??
thanks

thanks

What is the part number of your radio module? That will help confirm whether it has aux support.

sorry for the late reply - wife has been taking the x3 to work everyday and i haven't had a chance to pop the radio out.

i wasn't sure the model number, so, i took a picture of the back.

just curious - where can you look up the model number-> features? for future reference, that would be awesome..

thanks!

There are currently 7 sets of part numbers in that series of radios. Yours is the first (oldest) of the series. Your P/N is listed as being used from 10/04 to 4/05. I don't know if it has aux or not but it is listed as different from the prior model radio.

hmm... so, it sounds like it probably doesn't have it.
i did try m and mode button... tapping and holding. turning the car off then back on and trying again all sequences.

i guess my alternatives are to buy another factory radio that does have it, or possibly an in-line antenna fm modulator.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Could anyone help me identify how a radio will have Aux Input based on the Part Number?

I found this one on ebay;
Radio 05 06 07 08 BMW X3, AM-FM RECEIVER, CD PLAYER - eBay (item 220752549917 end time Apr-09-11 14:05:35 PDT)

my X3 is an 2005 as well... i'm guessing it will physically fit. it would suck to buy it just to find out its the same p/n as i currently have.

thanks

Any idea what the actual BMW P/N is? Maybe he would let you try it in your car if you are close to New Bedford. Some of us are familiar with the BM53/54 trunk mount radios but not with the indash type.
